What You Should Know for a Great Casino Cruise Holiday
Cruise lines offer casino games, tournaments, gaming fun, free lessons, and loyalty programs for an enjoyable sea holiday
Cruise lines offer tons of fun, from evening shows and galas to deck pools, bars, and casino fun. Most ships, including small and large ones, have an onboard casino, except for NCL’s Pride of America and all Disney Cruise Line ships. River boats and expedition ships usually do not have casinos. If you are headed for a gambling holiday, ask whether they offer gaming options and what types. Here is what you can typically expect while onboard.
Table and Slots Games
You will find plenty of slots machines as well as a variety of poker and blackjack games. While you can’t normally expect to play games like i-slots and bandar togel online as Internet is expensive, there are plenty of options to try, including Let It Ride, Three Card, Caribbean Stud, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em Poker. Some ships also feature live dealer games, for example, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines. If you are into electronic Poker Pro tables, Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line have them. Only a few ships offer baccarat while most lines have craps and roulette tables.
When it comes to high stake tables, only a handful of ships cater to high rollers. When there are enough high stake players, the pit boss may organize games for them at select Royal Caribbean sailings.
Tournaments
Most cruise lines advertise blackjack and slots tournaments with an entry fee. While winners typically win a cash prize, some lines also feature free cruises, one example being Royal Caribbean.
Opening Hours and Minimum Age
Keep in mind that casinos are only open in some ports and while out to sea. In countries where gambling is not allowed, casinos close in ports. At some ships, casinos are only open at night. There is also a minimum age to be allowed to play at the casino which depends on which cruise line you choose. The minimum age at Seabourn, Windstar, and Princess Cruise ships is 21. For sailings to Alaska, you have to be 21 to play onboard Azamara, Celebrity, and Royal Caribbean. Most ships, however, require players to be 18 to enter the casino.
What Else to Know
When it comes to payment methods, this also varies by cruise line. Carnival accepts onboard credit and cash while Azamara accepts pre-approved lines of credit, onboard accounts, and cash.
Some lines allow smoking, including Carnival and Azamara, and there are designated non-smoking areas. Other lines do not permit smoking, for example, Costa Cruises, Celebrity, Carnival, and Crystal.
Some lines do not have casinos, like Disney, while others such as the Hollard America Line feature a frequent player club, Club 21, free gaming lessons, blackjack and slots tournaments, and a lottery. To play slots games, you have to use the onboard card that is registered with your account.
